SUMMARY:2 Seconden!
LOCATION:Bouillonstraat 3 — Garden
DESCRIPTION:In deze clown- en mimeshow zet La Compagnie du Petit Monsieur h

SUMMARY:PAS Opening RIPPLE
LOCATION:Tapijnkazerne 11 — Appelplaats (Assembly Area)
DESCRIPTION:Before the party really gets started on Friday and Saturday\,
we take a special moment for the opening of this 10th edition of the PAS
Festival on Thursday. We are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of
Maastricht University.\nThe opening speech by our president Pamela Habi
bović is followed by a spectacular performance for all:  young and old\
, student or non-student. We want to celebrate together.  Can’t make i
t on Thursday? Don’t worry. Just before the festival starts on Friday
there is another chance to see the performance RIPPLE.\n\nLine-up: TeaTim
e Company  RIPPLE  In the work of TeaTime Company\, the boundaries
between circus and dance fade and a new and hybrid movement language is cr
eated. Showing concrete\, human reactions to abstract situations.   In
Ripple the giant metal spiral dominates the stage and the players as a
physical sculpture. It is not simply an object or a prop\, it is a set
that can move completely: it is an acrobatic and manipulable playground
. Circus\, dance and architecture come together.  With the help of the
spiral\, the three performers explore themes of balance\, influence\, pow
er\, flow and friction. The spiral allows them to push their limits. Whe
re a jump can suspend time and a fall can last forever. The ripple effe
ct describes the influence\, persistence and consequences of our choic
es. Just as natural forces cause vibrations and ripples in water\, our cho
ices cause ripples in our relationships\, thoughts and experiences. As
the great spiral rolls across the stage in an endless circle\, the perform
ers face constant challenges. They are forced to anticipate and react to
the movement of the metal wheel\, which at times seems to obey and at oth
er times seems to have a will of its own. At any moment the entire situ
ation can change because of an unexpected move from either spiral or per
former.\nRIPPLE won the audience prize of the Friesstraatheater Festiva
 l 2024 in Leeuwarden (NL).\n\nMeer info: https://test-pas.maastrichtuni.n

SUMMARY:2 Seconds!
LOCATION:Bouillonstraat 3 — Garden
DESCRIPTION:In this mime and clown show La Compagnie du Petit Monsieur cont
inues its exploration of modern times. And what would Pandora’s Box cont
ain nowadays if not one of these new objects which have invaded our daily
lives? Technologically brilliant\, incredibly practical but so insidious!
Paul Durand\, still restricted in his tight suit will learn it at his own
expense.\n\nLine-up: La Compagnie du Petit Monsieur\nCreated in 1998 by Am
andine Barrillon (director) and Ivan Chary (clown)\, the Compagnie du Peti
t Monsieur looks for the odd in our everyday lives and plays with these li
ttle misfortunes which transform Joe Public into a clown in spite of himse
lf. Without pretending to renew a genre whose masters are Chaplin\, the Mi
kos or George Carl\, the Compagnie takes inspiration from these mundane ci
rcumstances\, slightly offbeat at first\, at least plausible\, and pushes
them into a burlesque situation. It plays with situation comedy\, emphasiz
ed by the farcical virtues of mime and acrobatics. For the pure jubilation
of absurdity and laughter.\n\nMeer info: https://test-pas.maastrichtuni.n

een selected for a residency. During the PAS Festival\, they will show par

Molecular Imaging Institute\, where research is conducted using advanced m
olecular imaging techniques. Researchers from different fields work togeth
er there to develop new techniques and apply them in both fundamental and
practical research.\nDuring her residency\, Sanne explored whether the dat
a collected from patients could be visualized in an alternative\, more ins
ightful way. To understand the processes behind collecting and processing
this data\, she shadowed various researchers at M4I. She talked with techn
icians who develop the equipment\, visited the labs\, and got an understan
ding of how data is processed and translated into language and images.\nIn
a conversation with Barbara Strating\, Sanne talks about her work and her

 M) and the 65th anniversary of the Hustinx Foundation\, two artists have b
een selected for a residency. During the PAS Festival\, they will show par
t of their work and discuss their research during the residency at UM.\nSa
nne Vaassen was an Artist in Residence at M4I\, the Maastricht MultiModal
Molecular Imaging Institute\, where research is conducted using advanced m
olecular imaging techniques. Researchers from different fields work togeth
er there to develop new techniques and apply them in both fundamental and
practical research.\nDuring her residency\, Sanne explored whether the dat
a collected from patients could be visualized in an alternative\, more ins
ightful way. To understand the processes behind collecting and processing
this data\, she shadowed various researchers at M4I. She talked with techn
icians who develop the equipment\, visited the labs\, and got an understan
ding of how data is processed and translated into language and images.\nSa
nne's presentation during PAS is about her work Echo. This piece originate
d from an EEG scan of her brain taken in 2016 to diagnose epilepsy. She tr
anslated the scan into a piece of music that will be played on an organ.\n

LOCATION:Toneelacademie - Lenculenstraat 31-33 — Hall
DESCRIPTION:Especially for PAS\, a presentation of A.I. projects of stud

19\, Max Wind—on behalf of the chair of technologydrivenart.org—wrote
the book The Artistic Taste of Artificial Intelligence. It immediatel
y became the theme of a series of classes.\nIf A.I. is so smart anyway\,
what would it enjoy? What kind of art stimulates A.I.? And how do young ar
tists create work that arises at the intersection of A.I. and our natura
l clumsiness? How does A.I. make fun of our awkward virtuosity and romanti
c desire for a ‘real’ experience?\nShowcased are samples of five ye
ars of creative drive through the lens of A.I. Five years of 'Thinking wit

SUMMARY:RIPPLE
LOCATION:Tapijnkazerne 11 — Appelplaats (Assembly Area)
DESCRIPTION:In RIPPLE the giant metal spiral dominates the stage and the
players as a physical sculpture. It is not simply an object or a prop\,
it is a set that can move completely: it is an acrobatic and manipulab

s of our choices. Just as natural forces cause vibrations and ripples in w
ater\, our choices cause ripples in our relationships\, thoughts and exp
eriences. As the great spiral rolls across the stage in an endless circle
\, the performers face constant challenges. They are forced to anticipate
and react to the movement of the metal wheel\, which at times seems to o
bey and at other times seems to have a will of its own. At any moment t
he entire situation can change because of an unexpected move from either s
piral or performer.\n\nLine-up: In the work of TeaTime Company\, the b
oundaries between circus and dance fade and a new and hybrid movement lang
uage is created. Showing concrete\, human reactions to abstract situations

For the pure jubilation
of absurdity and laughter.\n\nMeer info: https://test-pas.maastrichtuni.n

all the richness of this collaboration. From crazy rhythms to expressive m

SUMMARY:Data Visualisation & Echo – Presentation
LOCATION:Bouillonstraat 3 — D 0.227
DESCRIPTION:Curious about what happens when artists and scientists come tog
ether? On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Maastricht University (U

19\, Max Wind—on behalf of the chair of technologydrivenart.org—wrote
the book The Artistic Taste of Artificial Intelligence. It immediatel
y became the theme of a series of classes.\nIf A.I. is so smart anyway\,
what would it enjoy? What kind of art stimulates A.I.? And how do young ar
tists create work that arises at the intersection of A.I. and our natura
l clumsiness? How does A.I. make fun of our awkward virtuosity and romanti

LOCATION:Bonnefantenstraat 2 — Courtyard
DESCRIPTION:Lizet Aviva writes indie folk songs that feel like vivid diary

ragile and whispersoft\, sometimes tense beneath the surface\, but always
